被媒体大肆宣传的京沪高铁本周进入为期一个月的试运行阶段。京沪高铁线全长1319公里，首列试运行列车跑完全程耗时不到五个小时。

新华社报导称，列车试运行时最高时速达300公里。京沪高铁预计于六月底正式开通。

京沪高铁线投资2209亿元（2643亿港元），是全球最长、投资最高的高铁线。线路开通后，京沪来往时间节省近一半。

分析师表示，京沪高铁早前被指存在腐败和工程质量问题，内地媒体对其试运行进行铺天盖地的报导，显然是想要修复这条高铁线和铁道部的形象。

试运行于周三上午9点20分开始。首列列车挂有16节车厢，从北京南站出发，沿途24个车站大部分跳过，只在南京南站停留一分钟，下午2点08分抵达上海虹桥站。

First Beijing-Shanghai test run hits 300km/h

A month of trial runs on the much-hyped high-speed railway line between Beijing and Shanghai kicked off this week, with the first test run on the 1,318 kilometre link completed in less than five hours.

Xinhua said the test run, which hit a top speed of 300km/h, marked the start of final tests on the link before its official launch in late June.

The 220.9 billion yuan (HK$264.3 billion) line, the longest and most expensive high-speed rail connection in the world, will almost halve travel times between the two cities.

Analysts said the mainland media's intensive coverage of the trial run was apparently aimed at repairing the image of the controversial rail link and the Ministry of Railways following allegations of corruption and construction quality concerns.

The test run started at 9.20am on Wednesday from Beijing's South railway station and the 16-carriage train skipped most of the 24 stations on the route, making only a one-minute stop at Nanjing South station before arriving at Shanghai Hongqiao station at 2.08pm.
