Xi stresses improving China's international communication capacity

General Secretary Xi Jinping is calling for more to be done to construct China's own discourse and narrative and interpret China's practices by its own theories.

He made the remarks when addressing a group study session attended by senior officials of the Communist Party of China.

Xi Jinping suggested that new concepts, domains and expressions be used to better tell China's stories and the spiritual strength behind the stories.

He called for greater efforts to help foreign audiences understand what the Party is pursuing is the Chinese people's well-being.

Emphasis was also placed on the efforts to introduce the Chinese culture abroad and strive to shape a reliable, admirable and respectable image of China.


Xi congratulates Assad on re-election as Syrian president

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to Bashar al-Assad on his re-election as president of Syria.

He says that China firmly supports Syria in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and will provide assistance to the Syrian side in combating COVID-19, revitalizing the economy and improving people's livelihoods.


Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to COVAX in production

The first batch of COVID-19 vaccine supplied by China's Sinopharm to COVAX has rolled off the production line.

China joined the international vaccine campaign in October last year.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin says the country will continue to contribute to the global fight against the virus.


Wang Yi: China and EU should maintain comprehensive strategic partnership

Foreign Minister Wang Yi is calling on China and Europe to cherish hard-won cooperative results.

Wang made his remarks when speaking to the press after a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto in Guiyang.

Referring to the unilateral sanctions adopted by the European Union (EU) against China in March, Wang Yi pointed out the European side has made the wrong choice based on untrue words and false information.

Meanwhile, he expressed confidence in the prospects of China-Europe ties, but stressed that the prerequisite for a healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations is correct mutual perception.

U.S. imports 1m barrels of oil from Iran despite sanctions: EIA data

Official data shows the United States imported around 1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil in March, despite Washington's sanctions against Tehran that prohibit any country from importing Iranian oil.

It was the second shipment of Iranian crude and petroleum imports to the U.S. since 1991. 

The country last recorded Iranian oil imports of 36,000 barrels per day for October 2020.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration has given no other details on the Iranian cargo and has no comment yet.


CMG, CAFA to deepen cooperation

China Media Group and the country's Central Academy of Fine Art have agreed to deepen cooperation in areas such as innovation and research of crossover art, as well as film and TV development.

The two sides signed a framework agreement for their comprehensive strategic partnership on Tuesday.

They also jointly launched an academy of communication arts.
