The Chinese president will address a conference on China-Africa cooperation on November 29.

Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation via video link.


China issues white paper on China-Africa cooperation in new era

China's State Council Information Office has issued a white paper detailing the country's cooperation with Africa in the new era.

Titled "China and Africa in the New Era: A Partnership of Equals", the paper says shared past experiences and similar goals have brought the two sides close together.

The document says China and Africa will always be a community of a shared future.

The document also says that developing solidarity and cooperation with African countries is a cornerstone of China's foreign policy, as well as a firm and longstanding strategy.


China urges Asian, European nations to promote common development

The Chinese premier is calling on Asian and European countries to adhere to mutual respect and win-win cooperation for common development and prosperity.

Li Keqiang made the remarks when delivering a speech via video link at the 13th Asia-Europe Summit.

The premier is urging Asian and European countries to step up cooperation on the research, development, production and technology transfer of vaccines and drugs to fight against COVID-19.


Chinese military demands clarification of U.S. submarine incident

A Chinese military spokesperson has urged the United States to explain in detail the incident involving a U.S. nuclear submarine in the South China Sea.

National Defense Ministry Spokesperson Wu Qian says the U.S. must clarify the real intention of the submarine's navigation, the accurate location where the incident occurred, and whether it caused nuclear leakage and marine pollution.

He also calls on the U.S. side to cease military activities by its vessels in the Asia-Pacific region and to stop seeking militarization in the South China Sea.


Wang Yi urges UN to maintain fairness and justice

The Chinese foreign minister says the United Nations should help maintain fairness and justice instead of being an onlooker of hegemony and bullying.

Wang Yi made the remarks while meeting with his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid, who is also the president of the 76th session of the U.N. General Assembly.

He says the UN should be a major platform of multilateralism and take actions to respond to challenges, instead of sitting idly by or being a battle field for major power games.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and French President Emmanuel Macron have met in Rome to discuss a treaty aimed at strengthening the European Union.

Italian officials have said the treaty aims to strengthen ties between the two European countries as well as relations among the EU member states.
