CPC leadership concludes key meeting ahead of legislative session

The top leadership of the Communist Party of China has concluded a key three-day meeting, after approving a plan for the reform of the Party and state institutions.

The second plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee agreed to submit parts of the plan to the annual session of the top legislature, the National People's Congress, set to open on Sunday.

A proposed list of candidates for national leadership positions will also be recommended to the legislative session.

The meeting pointed out that deepening institutional reform has significant and far-reaching implications for the goal of building a modern socialist country and promoting the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The plenary session also emphasized efforts to deepen China's reform and opening up and strengthen the work of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods.

Chinese FM Qin Gang to attend G20 foreign ministers' meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang will attend the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning says the G20 should focus on addressing prominent challenges around the world.

"The current international situation is in turmoil, the world economic recovery is sluggish, and the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development faces challenges. As the premier forum for international economic cooperation, the G20 should focus on addressing prominent challenges in the international economy and development and play a bigger role in promoting world economic recovery and global development."

The spokesperson says China stands ready to work with all parties to ensure the G20 foreign ministers' meeting sends a positive signal on multilateralism.

Belarusian president starts state visit to China

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has begun a three-day state visit to China.

In 2022, the power generation of clean energy such as hydro, wind, solar and nuclear energy, rose 8.5 percent.

Non-fossil energy consumption went up 0.8 points to account for 17.5 percent of the country's total power consumption.

Croatians react as hundreds stranded by snow storm

In Croatia, a weekend snow storm has caused major traffic jams and cut off parts of the country.

Croatian authorities say roads leading to and from the Adriatic Sea coastline remain closed due to the extreme weather.

The sudden change of weather has also snarled traffic in neighboring Serbia and Bosnia, leaving large areas in western Serbia without power.

China's Canton Fair to kick off in April

This year's China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is scheduled to kick off in April in Guangzhou.

It is estimated that more than 30,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises will take part in event.

It will feature exhibition areas for industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing, new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, and maternity, infant and children's products.
