China sets to expand international cooperation in lunar exploration missions

China is set to expand its international collaborations in lunar exploration following the success of the Chang'e-6 mission.

Officials say the country's Chang'e-7 lunar mission will carry six international scientific instruments, and Chang'e-8 will offer 200 kilograms of international payload capacity and has garnered over 30 applications.

The China National Space Administration says it has signed cooperation documents with more than ten countries and international organizations on the International Lunar Research Station project.

In the Chang'e-6 mission, China has fulfilled its commitment to allocate 10 kilograms of payload capacity on the lander and another 10 kilograms on the orbiter for international cooperation.


China renews alert for rainstorms in various regions

China has renewed weather alerts as heavy rainfall is expected to continue to lash several regions of the country.

On Thursday and Friday, torrential rain will sweep parts of Chongqing, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, and other places in eastern and southwestern China.

More than 20 rivers in Jiangxi, Hubei, Anhui, and other regions have reported water levels exceeding alert marks due to persistent heavy downpours.


China allocates funds for flood response work

Chinese authorities have announced the allocation of nearly 500 million yuan, or around 70 million U.S. dollars from its natural-disaster relief fund to assist flood control efforts across the country.

Previously, the government had already advanced over 340 million yuan.

The funds will support search and rescue, evacuations, and more.


Seven people killed by floods in central Afghanistan 

Heavy rains and flash floods have killed at least seven people, and several others are missing, in central Afghanistan.

The natural disaster swept parts of Yakawlang district late Tuesday.

The floods also washed away dozens of houses and agricultural lands.

Authorities say efforts are underway to recover survivors.


High risk of famine looms over Gaza, warns FAO

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization says the entire Gaza Strip is at high risk of famine.

A report shows that 22 percent of the population in Gaza, or around 460,000 people, are in a state of "catastrophic food insecurity."

FAO chief economist Maximo Torero said the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and current restrictions on humanitarian convoys into Gaza have had severe impacts on the entire population in Gaza.


China in tough Word Cup qualifier group

The Chinese men's football team has drawn into a strong group for the third round of Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

They join Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Indonesia.

The draw has left the Chinese team facing a daunting challenge to secure a place at its first World Cup since 2002, the team's only appearance so far.
