　　今天，我非常高兴地向纳尔逊·曼德拉说：“生日快乐！”

　　纳尔逊·曼德拉是一名律师和一名自由战士……

　　一位政治犯、和平缔造者和总统……

　　一个民族创伤医治者……也是全世界数代领导人和各界人士的良师益友。

　　纳尔逊·曼德拉为促进南非人民的变革奉献了他生命中的67年。

　　我们送他的礼物可以是——而且必须是——把我们的世界变得更美好。

　　今天，我与纳尔逊·曼德拉基金会一道，促请我们每一个人在纳尔逊·曼德拉国际日从事67分钟的公共服务——每一分钟代表马迪巴(曼德拉)自己为人类卓越服务的每一年。

　　辅导一个儿童。为饥饿者送去食物。

　　关爱你的环境。到医院或社区中心做义工。

　　参加曼德拉运动，让世界变得更美好。

　　这是祝福纳尔逊·曼德拉94岁生日非常快乐的最佳途径。

　　这是感谢他如此激励我们所有人的最好办法。

　　行动起来；激发变革；使每一天都成为曼德拉日！

New York, 18 July 2012 - Secretary-General's message for Nelson Mandela International Day

Today, it gives me immense pleasure to say Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela has been a lawyer and a freedom fighter...

A political prisoner, peacemaker and president...

A healer of nations…and a mentor to generations of leaders and people from all walks of life throughout the world.

Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life to bring change to the people of South Africa.

Our gift to him can – and must -- be to change our world for the better.

Today, I join the Nelson Mandela Foundation in urging each and every one of us to perform 67 minutes of public service on Nelson Mandela International Day – one minute for each year of Madiba’s own remarkable service to humanity.

Tutor a child. Feed the hungry.

Care for your environment. Volunteer at a hospital or community centre.

Be part of the Mandela movement to make the world a better place.

That is the best way to wish Nelson Mandela a very happy 94th birthday.

It is the best way we can thank him for being such an inspiration to us all.

Take action; inspire change; make every day a Mandela Day.
